Jesus answered, “My kingship is not of this world; if my kingship were of this world, my servants would fight, that I might not be handed over to the Jews; but my kingship is not from the world.” [John 18:36]
Jesus, King, confirms that “my servants would fight.” Often, clerics will not validate that statement. Why not? Because, Jesus gives Himself freely in this Sacrifice in order to conquer death, to save you and me. The world in which we live is an exile for us, perhaps an exile for demons as well, though we do not recognize this. We are passing through…and being redeemed by our Savior King who draws all to Himself.
Where is His world in which His servants would fight for Him? It is where His true servants are. And what makes one into a true servant? Perhaps courage defines the true servant; perhaps also prudence, justice and temperance. For us, these rest on a base of faith, hope and charity, which are impossible for us without God.
